WCREF KSMC interview to mark the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence on 25th November, 2025.

Together, we stand to End Digital Violence against girls and women across the globe. We stand with The UN UNITE campaign which calls for an end to violence against women and girls. We are using our voices to amplify the campaign, requesting for urgent action against digital abuse that has now reached epidemic levels.

The UN reports that:

🧩 Every 10 minutes, a woman or girl is killed by a partner or family member – 137 victims daily (UNODC/UN Women, 2025)

🧩 44% of the world’s wo.en and girls – 1.8 billion – lack legal protection from digital abuse (World Bank/UN Women, 2025)

🧩 90-95% of all deepfakes online are non- consensual pornographic images, with 90% depicting women (UN Women, 2024)

🧩 74% of women in Europe have either experienced or witnessed online violence (UN Women, 2024)

🧩 Deepfake files surged from 500,009 in 2023 to a projected 8 million in 2025 (Keepnet, 2025)

🧩 40% of cyberstalking victims experience abuse for over 2 years (Victim’s Commissioner, 2022)

🧩 UK police report 3,000 VAWG crimes recorded daily – deemed a “national emergency” (NPCC,2024).

There is no excuse for such behavior. Digital Violence in the form of online harrassment and deepfakes to cyberstalking and unauthorized and indecent image sharing has devastating and real-world consequences. What started online can quickly turn into danger beyond screens and borders.
